Moto Perpetuo
What makes a great song? I suppose no one can say for sure, but I personally am a subscriber to the One Finger Theory. That is, if you play the melody with one finger, and it still sounds good, you've got a winner.
The melody above is a little excerpt from Bach. Borrowed by The Toys in 1965, this melody gave them their biggest pop single, hitting #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. Why only #2? The #1 song in December of 1965 was "Yesterday", by The Beatles. I wonder how Bach feels about this?
Looking for more rock music? Check out www.fictionist.com. In addition to finding some great tunes, you might also some great gifs. Hidden gifs. It might take a little investigative-clicking to uncover them - I might even suggest "double-clicking" in a very obvious place for a gif to appear. Just a hint. Happy hunting.
P.S. Rest in peace Jerry Leiber. Just heard the news. What would rock be without you?
